Sunroof doesn't like to open on its own

I finally got a new assembly and the thing works now. If I shut it all the way and then try to open it, the panel sticks and has to be pushed a bit. Then it will open and close on its own until it is completely closed.

I have greased/lubed the tracks and everything. Anyone know of another trick to try to get it to open on its own power?

The panel doesn't leak at all, could the seals be sticky?

Well I had to elbow my (at like 8000 PSI) sunroof for it to open. When I did, I broke the whole assembly off the rails, It felt good. I found the same exact one on ebay for $107 with same color, motor, rails, relay, everything. Look on ebay and you will eventually find one.

I just bought a new assembly to replace the one that didn't work at all. I will try to grease the release mechanism. IF I can find it.

Oh well. Small price to pay for the rest of the car. Right?

Alignment is touchy. You need clearance all around. I have had good results with silicone spray lube on the track & on the rubber.

Has anyone swaped thiers to a glass top from the metal roof? Mine just got a tiny rust spot and I would rather just replace it instead of screwing with it.

I had someone of the same problem. The sunroof would struggle to open, i had to push it up in the back slightly. Then it would slide slowly back and forth. What i had to do was to take out the sunroof, and make sure that both sliders were going together back and forth. My right one was like 3/4 of an inch ahead of the left one causing the roof to struggle to move.
its pretty simple to adjust. After adjusting it, the roof slid back and forth perfectly, but once n a while i still have to put a little pressure to pop it up.

Good luck fixing ur prob.

LoS

Sunroofs in these cars are a bitch !!! I had to take off all my interior panels and then take off the roof carpeting then I took out the motor and it seemed to work fine. then i took out he whole assembly the big black platform under the carpeting with the roof itself. when i hooked up a battery charger to the motor it worked fine no problem. when i put it back in the alignment was off so i had to fiddle with the 4 adjusting bolts. Lotsa Lithium greese fixed the problem somewhat. the left side of the sunroof slider hops around when it moves but ive had just about enuf of this sunroof. Take it out clean the tracks then soak it in lithium grease. if that doesnt work try to get another assembly as suggested before.
