which way do i turn it...im having trouble cause the gear is slipping on the cable and when i do get it to work i want it to go the right way....its almost closed...just need about another inch of movement and thats just so its flush.

Turning it to the right (clockwise) opens it, turning left (counter-clockwise) closes it.

I just ran out to the garage to check for you! =)

EDIT - Mine is an 89, so unless they changed between the s4 and s5...
