sunroof

I have the sunroof out of my 7. When I try to open it (manually), only one side starts to pop open.

Has anybody succeeded in repairing the opening hardware mechanism? I think the electric motor works properly but the hardware is preventing one side from opening. I can't tell what is preventing it from opening.

Search.

There are several threads and at least 2 writeups on it, on mine I found a broke cable last night.

I had the same problem with my sunroof too. The problem was that one of the cables that pulls each side of the roof broke. The only way to fix that is by buying a new (used is really the word for it) and throw it in. You COULD do the arduous task of taking them apart to keep the colored sheet metal/cloth. I did that and it took me quite a long time tearing two moonroofs apart. Good luck though :P.

Yup had the same problem. I tore mine apart expecting to find dirt and the tracks needing some lube but I found out the passenger side had completely rusted out.
I'm now looking for a complete rail assembly.
