My sunroof will not automaticly pop up in the back when i press the button for it to go back, i have to physicaly push it up. any ideas on how to fix it?? its a '87 GXL if that helps

 

bump, it moves fine when the back half is pushed out of the little hole it sits in. any ideas??

 

my friends 88 gtu does that i think its supposed to.

 

sign of general fatigue...
clean the hell out of the tracks and surrounding mechinism. lubricate with a good slick substance. that may help.
this is a common problem.
I replaced my whole sunroof with another and was left with this problem. Better than it was though...wouldn't open before.

wd40 to free it up, then some kind of lithium grease. Worked for me.
