Summit A/F Gauge

After hours of figuring out where and how to connect this puppy—trying to find the O2 Sensor wire in the harness at the ECU—I've got it installed. It works, BUT, now my Exh Overheat light dims on. I'm sure it's because the gauge is pulling some of the power from the O2 sensor and tripping the warning. Anyone have a similar problem or a fix? ANY help would be great.

Thanks all,
B

Just my opinion, but it does not compute. At least not on a 86-87 model. The o2 is not related to the exaust overtemp. Only put out 1v and mostly less. Not spliced in anyway to the exaust overtemp. On a 86-87 the sensing wires for the O2 and the exaust overtemp sw(located under the passenger seat rug) go to seperate plugs on the ECU. Then again I might not know some relationship b/t the two. What year car do you have? Turbo or N/a

'87 sport. I checked the shop manual (thank you iluvmyrx7.com) and found the o2 sensor lead on the harness connector at the ECU—a green and yellow wire. I soldered the lead from the gauge (the o2 sensor lead) directly to the green and yellow wire. I soldered the power lead from the gauge to 12v power line on the ECU wiring harness connetor—the first black and silver lead on the large connector. I ground the gauge to the chassis—it won't work unless it's grounded.

I'm not sure now if I've connected the leads to the correct wires on the ECU harness. Can someone verify where to connect this thing? I need to know the wire at the ecu for the o2 sensor and a reliable 12v connection—preferably at the CPU or ECU.

Thank you all…AGAIN!
