Summer 2005: What projects have you completed so far?

I had my list ready over the winter, and with the last two days off I said what teh hell and started going down the line checking things off.

Here's what I have accomplished during my first Summer 05 project:

- Vac. Spider removed, kept FPR solonoid and the oil vapor valve, everything else is gone.
- Cleaned upper intake and what I could get to on the engine (LIM, alternator, etc)
- Removed secondary throttle butterflies
- Removed air pump
- Blocked off EGR and OMP, plugged OMP injector holes
- Did my first H2o treatment
- Generally cleaned the bay up (still working on painting brackets and other misc. stuff).

It's running much, much better now, and all that I have to do to get it back to the point I'd like is to install a Racing Beat header + pre-silencer to take care of the major pain in the *** exhaust leak I have right now (split main cat.)

Before removal:

After removal:

All the crap I pulled out (minus some stuff that I stomped on and threw in the trash already):

So waht have you accomplished now that the sun has come out and you don't have to wait 4 hours for the RTV to cure?

Dude, I don't think its safe to keep spray cans under the hood.

Personally, I'm just trying to get the car road worthy. Its been mainly body work so far, with a few large holes in the body. That in itself is a BIG project. Especially trying to get it to look nice. I've also put on a K&N filter. After safety and its on the road is when the good stuff will happen.

I have too much to ever get much done :|

So far the list includes, from highest priority to lowest:

- Pick up the free FC with no title
- Part out the stuff on the FC I don't want, keep the rest, get some $$
- Alignment
- Rebuild the s5 n/a block in it with a bridge and other goodies
- Drop s5 n/a block into GXL and sell s4 ported/rebuilt motor
- Manifold/fuel project, tuning after break-in is done
- Rebuild differential possibly with higher ratio
- Convert back to stock headlights (damn the last owner of this car!)
- Possibly standalone, depending on money situation
- Turbo project, finally get it done
- Paint (maybe)

And that's just my rx7, I have an rx8 to worry about too now but that's going to stay fairly mild:

- Put on my pulleys sitting on my desk
- Custom intake
- Midpipe/catback
- ECU/tuning
- RX8store mazdaspeed replica urethane front bumper
- Misc.

I'm pretty sure all the rx7 stuff will happen before any of the rx8, though. Gotta finish the 2nd gen and make sure I don't neglect it

Now I just need more $$

I've fixed my door opening switches (the driver's side was erratic and the passenger's side didn't work at all), installed a SAFC-II, done some basic tuning on the SAFC-II, and cleaned my spark plugs.

Plans include getting new fuel injectors (and getting them cleaned), installing some sort of CD ignition, and more SAFC tuning, possibly including a wideband.

Oh, and replacing my suspension around.

Re-painting is a big one on my list as well. My car looks pretty good from five feet away, but any closer and you can see all different shades of red used to patch this thing up over the last 17 years.

My rocker panels are shot and I have a ghetto front lip I pulled from the local u-pull, so I'm thinking of just fabricating some fiberglass panels to extended the rocker length by ~2.5 inches and mold it into the body so I finally have a straight edge along the bottom, not this speed bump induced wave I have now. Then my sides will match up with the length the lip adds to the front, and I'll just have to find a solution for the rear.

I have a pair of Brembo front rotors, a set of Hawk HPS pads, and two bottles of brake fluid that are calling my name. So far, I haven't answered. Maybe today, maybe Wednesday.

As far as the rest of the summer, I need to sort out a couple of minor annoyances before I can have some fun. The interior could really use my attention. I was so spoiled all those years with my old N/A. The interior was perfect.

Well, I can't say that I have finished any projects yet. My project for the winter was to get a house, which I did. Now I get to start building the car I have had for years and not had the chance/money to touch.

Upcoming for the FC-
Rebuilt engine
full racingbeat road race exhaust
koyo radiator
fix headlight switch
body work and cleanup to get it on the road for the year

For my Civic-
swapping out stock engine for d15b (japanese replacement for existing motor that burns oil)

Total repaint and body work. New BS Potenzas just put on today and I'm premixing now, although my s5 mop is still working so I'm going a bit light on the 2stroke for now until I can block it off.
Also new s5 vert stereo to replace the old shitty one.

Now all I need is some replacement black a-pillar trim and to get my seatbelts done and fixed by the dealer. Also looking to get an alignment done and my injectors refinished.
I DEFINITELY need to refurbish or replace my exterior window seals. After that I thing smooth sailing until I can get a new clutch and rebuilt tranny. Do we ever top working on these things?
