Suggestions and tips for new purchase?

Hello all,

I've been lurking around here for quite a while, and have been doing lots of reading and researching. Basically, what I'm buying is a 1988 FC, with what I believe to be a S4 motor. It has been rebuilt by Banzai racing, with around 20k miles or so on it, with a good bit of quality performance parts.

My plans are for daily driving with a little play here and there(very rare though)
What are the best recommendations for keeping the car running in best shape?

I've read about the letting it warm up, and pre-mix, quality fuel, no synthetic oils in the engine, don't let it overheat EVER!

Is there anything I should consider doing with my new rx7 to keep it running in "tip-top" shape?

Curious to hear everyone's suggestions!

Thanks, Matt

keep an eye on your oil level unless the omp has been removed.

I read about that, Gonna make a habit of checking it every 3 gas fillups, and fill accordingly.

Save some money and grab some gauges, anything to keep a watchfull eye on all the vitals of your car is key. Also i suggest in those gauges obviously get an AFR gauge, since i see in all the mods you listed there wasn't anything to do with the ECU. Prolly want to look into that next, especially since the supporting mods you have will allow you to run a decent amount of boost above stock. Maybe look into either an Rtek 2.1 Or a Power FC with the Banzai adaptor, a tune at this point is also going to ensure your motor lasts. Depending on what you want to do with the car or what not, some sort of AI will also add insurance.

Dang! I keep forgetting parts haha! It has the Rtek 1.7 ECU, and oil pressure, boost, water temp, and voltage. All autometer gauges. I also plan on getting an AEM UEGO to keep an eye on AFR's.

Get that AFR gauge and go from there, if you have problems with any sort of lean fuel condition i would look into getting a fuel controller. Something like an Apexi SAFC which is a pretty common combo with the Rtek ECU. Only other Gauge i would recommend is EGT, with that you will have pretty much covered your *** with the car in terms of preventative measures.

What plugs are you running and how much boost currently?

I'm not sure of the plugs, and I don't think the boost is much higher than 10psi.
