Which Suede wheel should I get for my FC?

Yo,

I'm looking to replace my stock steering wheel on my GTUs and I want to go with a suede steering wheel. It looks like Sparco has the best selection, so it's between these two:

383 Suede

http://www.sparcousa.com/pswheel_competition.asp?id=139

Or:

Mugello (in Black)

http://www.sparcousa.com/pswheel_street.asp?id=383

Vote on which one you like best! I'm leaning towards the 383 Suede, but the Mugello is pretty cool.

Side note: Anyone have a suede steering wheel? How hard is it to keep clean?

Thanks!

I like the 383, I've got a Momo wheel in the racecar that looks very similar.

Yo,

I don't know about how suede holds up in a street car. Does it get dirty? Does it shed? Heck, I don't know!

All I know is y'all better not bite my style! Anyone who gets a Sparco suede wheel from this day forth is a biter!! *snicker*

Just kidding about the Sparco ..... But I am geting a set of vert wheels sent to me this month that I do plan on powder coating. I think that looks great on red 7s!

I don't like the look of flat-bottomed steering wheels. I like round bottoms

That yellw-interiored car on the 383 page looks cool. I wanted to do up my 79 T/A to look like an airplane cockpit, too.

Yo,

Erik: My wheel looks exactly like a TII wheel, except there isn't the little MOMO embossed into the bottom of the horn cover. It's leather, and in great shape, but I think it's time for something different. I think a smaller diameter wheel will cut down on the overboosted feel of my steering.

87RX7Miami: Be warned, powdercoating multispoked wheels white and then trying to keep them clean is a *****. Listen to me: I'm an **** retentive freak and even /I/ get weary of trying to keep my rims clean. *grin* But when they are clean, and your red paint is shiny...full JDM Pimp Daddy inna House!! It looks SO good. *grin* I need to post pics of my car with the black lugs and black caps...

Turboren: I'm pretty sure I'm going with the 383 Suede. I checked OMP's suede wheels, and I think the Sparco 383 wins. I might order it tomorrow.

Yo,

Bah! Silkworm, whoever's car is actually /running/ and moving around the street with the suede steering wheel is the winner! *grin* I don't see anything coming out of your transmission for you to shift!

Actually, tell me more about that Momo wheel. I looked for suede wheels from them and not much came up. Is that a Monte Carlo in suede?

LOL, you got me there.. Just finished cutting the dash to fit over the roll cage, now I need to play with all the connectors on the rear harness and start hooking that stuff back up.. Need to call for a new shifter boot too..

The Momo wheel was one I found at Frey Racing, no idea what model it was.. My only requirement was that it was 350mm and it was suede. That one fit the bill, it feels good, and I'm happy. ~150 bucks IIRC.

April.. Maybe Depends on finances more than anything. There's some parts that I just can't afford at the moment that I need (like a set of race tires) So while I build cash, I'm doing the things that don't cost anything

LOL Seth.. buraking dooorifto

Yo,

Silkworm, I'm just bustin' yer chops. Now if you go and put a TII hood on your NA, THEN I'm gonna jump all over ya. *grin*

I know Scott down at Frey, I should give him a call to see if I can get the hookup.

Seth or Silkworm, how far does the adapter push the steering wheel back?

When are we gonna go do some Initial D doriftoooo time?

Silk, what size rims do you want? 15 or 16?

Yo,

Gene, talk to Seth (cymfc3s) he went and got himself broke! So he's out of the group buy for this month. I can contact LEDtronics and see if they can do the group buy when we are short. So far we just have 3 people...

Silk:

What type of gauge holder/panel is that? 1/2 DIN size, right?

Looks like it allows you to angle the gauges toward you? Is that a built-in feature of the mounting panel?

Where did you get it from?

Hmmm, T2 hood with sleepy eyes.. That's my idea of cool

LOL

Hey, once this thing is running, I'm up for a drift day.. I'm well aware of how wasteful drifiting is, but hey, it looks like a heck of a lot of fun, and I'm down for that.

The adapter I'm running is one that welds on as a quick disconnect. As it is now, I'm screwed, the steering wheel is too close to the dash, my fingers smack the turnsiignal stalks. I'm going to have to get a spacer from Frey to extend the wheel out towards me. Dunno what a street type adapter would do.

Wheels I need are 15x7 Kosei K-1s. Tirerack seems to have the best price at 139 a wheel + shipping. I could run stockers, but I need tires anyway, and the stockers are hideous

Busy13b,

That's.. um... Paul's custom gauge holder Right now they're just laid in there, I will build an aluminum holder for them. I just wanted to see if they'd fit in that space, and they should be ok (2 1/8" guages).

Of course, I gotta find somehting to put in that huge space left by the radio

I'm not exactly what MOMO wheel you're talking about, but I have a MOMO Champion steering wheel. It is 350mm and the top half is suede and the bottom half is perforated leather.
