Your rear sub-frame holds your diff/axels.
The front holds the engine IIRC and I think the A_arms bolt to it.
So yeah if you can even move the car without one of them thats amazing yet dangerous.

The lateral links will no longer be connected and the trailing arms would have to be disconnected from the subframe in order to leave everything else with the suspension intact. So yes in theory it's possible, but it wouldn't be much fun.

i bought a pacesetter header its been on there for about 6 months (before i knew that pacesetter was ****) now and ive been driving without the brace on there cause i couldnt get it back on. which ive been scared about.
That picture that you took is of the vert crossmember. I've heard of some problems with headers / downpipes hitting the crossmember. Most people just cut a notch in the crossmember so the header will fit.
Driving without it will probably make your car feel like a wet noodle.

A bunch of speculation on what it does. Guys it is a required component for a vert to insure the car survives impact. A coupe integrates support through the pillars and roof. A vert through the chassis and Kframe. Go borrow 200.00 and by a racing beat down pipe. (I have one on my vert and it fits perfectly with the brace) if you need a manifold, just peruse the used parts sections. I saw several s5's being parted. Seems no one ever buys an exhaust manifold - so that part should be cheap.
