stupid wiper question

My wiper motor wont turn off but my windshield wipers wont move. It sounds like they are on, but nothing moves. I am thinking it is the wiper relay problem that a lot of people with fcs have, but im not sure. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Also, does anyone no a good source for how I can fix it myself?

Thanks for any help yall can give me.

How do you know it's on?
Cause it makes a whining sound?

Are we talking about front or rear wipers?

If the wiper motor is truly working and there is no movement in the wiper arms, either the linkage came apart (for fronts) and / or the wiper arms are stripping the splines (most likely rear).

Okay its the front wipers. I can tell its on because you can hear the motor. It SOUNDS like they are working like normal (buzzing and clicking). However, the blades dont move at all and the motor wont turn off.

Sounds weird, have they always worked before, or did they just stop working?
I had this prob when I first got my FC on one of my front wipers. Turned out all I needed to do was tighten the retaining bolt on the wiper arm.

ted's right; probably the splines are stripped or loose at the arms, or the linkage is disconnected
