stupid question about headlights...

i searched and couldn't find an answer to this, probably because it's super obvious. Is the high beam in a second gen headlight a second bulb in the headlight? I ask because I lost one, and assumed it burnt out, then the other one went, and i realised i still had my high-beams. I know in some cars, like my friends trans-am, its a totally seperate bulb and assembly. is it possible that both my low-beam bulbs burnt out, and i need new headlights. or is it an electrical thing because i still have highbeams. I know, i'm retarded.

Your problem could be caused by loosing the low beam filaments in both headlights at almost the same time, a rare coincidence, or it could be a problem with the light switch on the dash. If you didn't loose both low beams at the same time then it is most likely just bad low beam filaments and you need to replace the headlights.

The easiest way to troubleshoot the problem is to replace the headlights and you should have low beams again if that is the problem, if the low beams don't work then it is likely the headlight switch contacts.

When I lost my headlights, it was the switch that caused the malfunction

Our headlights are sealed beam so you have to replace the whole thing anyways, unless you did an H4 conversion or something. Either way it is one bulb that does both high and low beams.
