Stupid Or Not???
A shop is going to make 2.5" exhaust pipe and go from my headers all the way back replacing the cats.
i have not decided on single or dual yet, but here is my question.
Do I really need to put muffler(s) on the end? Chances are that if I were to get a muffler it would be un-restrictive and loud anyway, so can I save money and put tips on the end??
they will be stainless steel and improve the looks while still cutting down on the cost of new muffler(s).
i dont care about loudness much, but will headers w/ straight pipes and no mufflers be way too loud for street use??

I think it would. I think even in most of the spec racing series you are required to run some noise dampening.
You can get something relatively straight thru that will not really affect performance if you're going custom. The difference between a well designed exhaust and one with no mufflers really won't impact the power curve noticeably.
There may be a time when you'll want to sneak up on someone.

If you have a 90 gxl, don't be like the other dumb rice burners in kansas with only tips. Your best bet is to do header back, no cats and find some smaller mufflers to put in back. You might want to find some decent ones at an import shop or a catalog. My .02

No cats or muffler? Wow, that would be loud. When I did some exhaust work a few weeks back, I fired my n/a up w/ nothing but the header on, and I REALLY pissed of the neighbors. Plus, cops will be on you like white on rice.
