stupid grounding question
so,
i want to trouble shoot the 3800 rpm hesitation so i started with check grounds.
the one that is missing is way in the back of the keg top of the tranny i think.
it had this lil resistor on it but the cable broke from right behind it.
so my question is. do i need to find the same resistor or can i just ground it as is.?

Naw. That is not the ECU ground point on the top of the engine. That gnd point can only be accessed if the throttle body is removed.
What you have in your hand is a condenser for the oil pressure gauge circuit. IF you just ground the black wire that was attached to it.......you WILL drive the oil pressure gauge needle to its top and ruin the gauge forever and ever and ever and evermore. That's assuming the other end of that black wire is still connected to the harness.

I am quite sure that this is a capacitor, used to surpress very small pike charges to the electrical system.
I have seen the same thing on my engine and wondered if I should replace it with a bigger one.
I dont know whats connected to it, if something is connected to it than that device must need a clean voltage supply.
Hence the cap.

Ah, hailers was faster. Good to know that this is the gnd point for the oil pressure gauge.

It would keep the gauge from erratic movement when the engine is running it should be in the system but there are those that will argue the fact . Just make sure your replacement is for dc current .. IT IS NOT A GROUND...
