stuck side seal, options?

Well to get this started, I bought my 7 two years ago as a non-running t2 swap. Not knowing much about rotarys, I decided to jump into it. Well two years later the car hasn't moved other than when I moved and trailered it into its new chambers. I have the engine bay stripped right down to the keg plus the lim and turbo. The problem that's holding me up is what I belive to be a stuck side seal on the rear rotor. I get two good compressions and then nothing. I'm looking for advice on
what I could possibly use or do to free that side seal. Everyone seems to be using atf on running cars, I don't have that luxury so any tips or advice? It's killing to me to have this thing just sitting in my garage and I want nothing more than to have it running, any help would be appreciated!

If you want it to run, rebuild
If you have a broken seal on the inside, rebuild
Could you use ATF? That brings up the compression, but it's mainly for serious deflooding, not a broken seal. You might lose another seal by using ATF as well.
Hate to say, but hey, it's rebuild time. It happens with these engines.

That's what I've figured. Safer rebuilding than letting the atf eat all the soft seals.

atf is not going to eat any seals I dont know why you would be thinking that, at this point you have nothing to lose by trying it or MMO

I have been using ATF and MMO as a maintenance procedure in rotaries for 20 years and I wasnt the first to think of it its a method probably as old as the rotary itself

aaron knows his stuff, but he is most likely referring to engines that have already **** the bed. A healty engine is not going to get hurt.
You have a stuck seal, if the engine comes apart you are replacing all the seals.
You will be turning your engine over by hand not trying to run it, you really have nothing to lose, try marvel mystery oil or even 2 stroke oil instead if it makes you feel better.
I have used both ATF and MMO but use MMO because I always have it hanging around.
I have used it in flooded, non running FCs that I have purchased and those cars ran for years and years after.

It will not repair a broken engine im not saying that at all. If your engine is toast its toast you will be using all new seals anyhow its the least of your worries at this point

Alright, thanks for the info! Guess I'll stop by crappy-tire and find some mmo to try on it and if that doesn't work I'll start looking for a builder

MMO is great stuff! But hopefully if it is a stuck seal you can free it up! If not I'd recommend rebuilding it your self if you have the space to do it. These motors aren't hard to rebuild, Atkins rotary makes a video on the rebuild. It's a great experience and you will know the ins and outs of your engine as well.

MMO and put rotate the apex seal to straight down at the bottum. Let it sit for a day, rotate it to the exhaust port and press on it gently with something like a wood shim or plastic blade to try and free it up, repeat this for a week or so. Nothing hurts to try. This reminds me.... I have not turned my S5 Tii in over 2 months with MMO in it lol... maybe I will get lucky this time
