What the hell are you making it out of that its that heavy? My rear bar is steel (intended as a harness bar too) and it only weights about 5# with heim joints and all....

So yours can double as a hoist location? Tell me about this thing in more detail.

a hoist location? um, i dunno what u mean by that. its about a 1/4 inch thick. not a normal bar, it acuatlly rests infront of the towers, not above them. i dunno what else to tell u abouit it.

hoist location as in some place to lift the car off the ground from....

1/4" thick is a wee bit overkill depending on the width of the bar. Tubing is ideal for these because the strength of a material is mostly based on the outter most layer of it. Hense why drive shafts are hollow, etc.

yeah thats what i am thinking now too. i have a ton of scrap metal and figured i would make my own instead of shelling out the money for a new one.

ill have to search for some tubing, im sure there is some around. hopefully it will look good.

hmmm this sounds interesting. Can you make a write-up for us? I would love to see some pix of what it looks like. I am liking the "make your own ****" deal.lol I would not mind unsing some scrap metal to try this myself. keep us posted on how it turns out and get us some pix.
