Strut bar question

When all is said and done, is this thing supposed to lay across/contact the top of the alternator? Is that okay?

Mine had the same problem, I dunno if yours is the same way as mine, but on each end their were threads to adjust the width, so I could kinda twist the bar up so it wasnt touchin the alternator, but there is only a short tolerance between the not touching the alternator and the hood shutting properly, just gotta fiddle with it a bit.

I think it depends on who made the strut... it's gonna vary just slightly between companies... Sounds like you've got a Greddy GREX Front Strut. Mine actually had a nice hallowed out gash in it from when my car started up. The engine would be rough during a winter start up and the alternator cut into it. Yeah, like Rxmfn7 said, you can adjust it... mine goes out slightly infront of the alternator w/out touching it at all. My 2 and a half cents...

BEtter than hitting your hood. Try to adjust the ends to raise and lower it. I have a trust/CUSCO one. same thing basically. I had to adjust it b/c it was pushing the hood up.

Hm, thanks. I'll work on it. Is it a big deal if I can't adjust it? Ha, that thing's gonna get magnetized...

Can you like, put washers on the bolts where it mounts, to raise it just a tad?

My strut bar touches the alternator when the engine moves. I had to rotate the bar so instead of it "laying down" its "standing" (sorry, its the best way I could explain it) Heres some pics I took of my bar, notice how I rotated the bar. The padding on the underside of the hood rubs on the bar. Its a generic bar I got on ebay, till I save up for a real strut bar, so I really dint expect much. Heres the pics:
