please someone help me. I'm freaking out, i think i might have broken my car. Can somebody please reply, and tell me if i actually broke it, or if three of the four bolts will hold the transmission.

So you striped the threads that the bolt screws into on the bottom of the car?

hmmm, well in a perfect world you should try and repair that hole, I would but then I don't like to leave any broken bits on my car!

Is it truly stripped or did you just cross thread it?

I'm working under my REX right now replacing exhaust hangers, I'll see what it looks like there and comeback with a suggestion.

OK I see why "seveninphilly" asked the question, which bolts?

There are 4 bolts that hold the trans to the cross member, and;

There are 4 bolts that hold the cross member (CM) to the car.

If you are hard on things (hard shifting, etc) then no matter which one you stripped you might want to fix it.

The CM to car will be the hardest to repair, probably best the drill and tap to the next larger size of bolt (or helicoil back down to the original), your choice.

If it is the CM to the trans, you may again get away with leaving this one, but repair is best, first try and chase the threads with the appropriate tap, or as above drill larger and helicoil back down to the original size.

I hope this helps!

what is the cm, i was screwing the bolt in and it did not want to go in. but then it started to go in,( i don't think that it was cross thead) but then all the sudden it began to screw in really easy. it does not come out unless i unswrew it. would it be possible that some of the theads are still intacted and some are striped?

cross member (CM)

You still did not mention which bolts we are referring to, "into the trans" or "into the car", either way:

all the sudden it began to screw in really easy
If this is the case the threads may have been dirty and the action of screwing the bolt in cleaned them and that's why it got easier all of a sudden.

it does not come out unless i unswrew it.
At best it was only dirt, at worst you may have a few thread still intact If it snugs up relatively tight then I would leave it alone.

Got to get up early, off to sleep, good luck!

Clamp a pair of vice grips on it and pull while you turn.
