strengthening an s4 rear iron

anything you can do to strengthen the rear iron where it cracks by the upper dowel near the oil filter pedistil.

i was thinking of having it profesionaly welded, it would need to be pre heated and i am not sure if that would mess with the hardness of the iron.
also welding it could warp the metal.

i would just buy an s5 iron but i have my irons bridge ported so thats not an option right now.

i will at least have the block pinned

J-rat made ~430rwhp on his reman s4 engine (with the weaker iron) and only blew it because I think a wastegate line popped off.

Haha, you'd do best to avoid using *that* iron...

Just go until it blows.

There's not much you can do easily, and anything you *do* won't be cheap and risks damaging the iron.

Use it till it breaks or change it now.

I was thinking maybe where the emissions rack bolts down, put 4 studs in there, drill that pattern into a 3/8" thick piece of bar steel, and secure with nuts, which might prevent overall engine twisting which should prevent rear iron breaks, however, i'm no engineer.

Why can't you put a FD iron on, and drill/tap for the TII intake bolt holes ?

I've been running 20psi on my s4 iron for a couple months now (a few hundred very hard miles) with no problems yet, running only race fuel.
