streetported question

hey,
I got a question in regards to a streetported engine.
ive got a 1986 gxl thats been streetported, i want to know the advantages of having a street ported engine, such has hp gain, etc. Also what is the best rev to switch gears to get the most power in a race?!

street port increases the Overlaps in the engine's combustion cycle

it helps to "widen" the power band on the car especially helps with top end

Rotaries like to rev.. to spinning that baby up to 7,000 is no problem...as long as ur not bouncing the rev limiter u'll be ok...

I usually shift at 7,200-7,500 on my TII

basically where ur butt dyno tells u the power is falling off :P

the shifting is really going to be determined by trial and error really. You just have to get a feel for where you get the most power out of your car. in my pathfinder the redline is 6750, but i shift around 6200 becuase it puts me right in the peak of the powerband. in my opinion, no 2 engines are going to run exactly the same, so it's just wherever you feel the car gets most power.
