Streetport.......yes/no
Streetport.......yes/no
Okay, so I blew up my motor a couple of months ago, and I'm wondering if I should streetport the motor when I'm in re-doing all of my seals. It won't be me doing the porting...'cause I'm sure I'd F it up.
Anyway, are there some noticable gains from a streetport?
I've seen a few comments, while searching, where some people don't recommend it...and others do.
Currently I'm still running a stock S5 turbo, but the plans are to rebuild with a BNR stage 3. Ultimate 1/4 mile goals are mid 12's, trapping around 110 or slightly under.
Do you guys think a streeport is even in order with that goal?
Thanks in advance.....

I wouldn't rebuild a motor without streetporting it. The motor I built pulled much harder up top and passed emissions with flying colors. If done correctly, and not to an extreem, "I" see no downside.

You could do that on stock ports, but if the engine is apart then streetporting is definitly an option. Depending on how the porting is done then it could mean a broad power increase across the powerband. Of course, you will need the necessary fuel mods with that turbo even if you don't streetport.

I'm getting a large streetport. If your a turbo it's pretty much necessary to have that extra flow if you ever decide to get a larger turbo. If your NA then it's pretty much the only option for increasing horsepower. But with NA I prolly would go very aggressive with it, possibly a half-bridge to full-bridge. Chris Ludwig (ludwigmotorsports.com) has a killer NA Rx7 he races in SCCA. Ask him about his setup.

All half-bridges have the distinctive bridgeport "brap brap brap" idle, just a bit less violent then a full bridge. The idle can depend a lot on how high the exhaust was ported, but you will ALWAYS get intake dilution on any kind of bridgeport, hence the idle.
