I think you should leave racing to the track. Street racing is dumb and the results meaningless.

This is apost about racing on the street, not rules and regulations. So, if you dont like street racing, why dont you take your 3000 lb convertable, and go to the track.

Thanks you and good night

You said "tell me what you think" so I did. And I do take my 3000lb 'vert to the track and strip where it's 200+hp gets it around quite nicely.

the point is that street racing is dumb and dangerous. you are gonna do it whether we tell you to or not, but if you kill a little kid or a pregnant mother doing it, i hope you roast in hell. nobody intends on wrecking their car, and street racing is one unneccessary risk that no one should take.

dont take this as a flame. if you can find a dead end road that no one could possibly pull out on, by all means race away. as long as the only life you are risking is your own...

choose a good place not near any federal installments or blind hills cops love those. oh both street racing and on a track is great fun but it takes more skill to drive and turn than it does to go straight. Oh plus street racing ther are no downshifts or braking.

"i hope you roast in hell. dont take this as a flame" hahaha.. interesting.

Anyways fellas, i do agree that street racing is dangerous, but, if you take it way the hell out in the "country" or some where on a not busy road with people on both ends, its not much more dangerous than the track at all except for maybe response time from Medics and such.

Geez guys give the kid a brake. I dont remember anyone telling me that its dangerous when asking for advice against the last three cars I toasted. Thiers alot of safe places to race. Just because we say street racing does NOT mean were going to race from jack n the box to taco bell three trafic lights down across the railroad past the residential and back on the sidewalks. It just means anyplace besides a Legal Track. Racing on a deserted island dirt road is considered street racing.
Im sure he will be safe but as far as his ? DC350. I relly dont think u should bother. It wont be fun and is not worth it. Im sure u read my last killz with the 4 lane race and a couple others. Even those will bore me know. After some more engine work im going to start racing supercharged miatas, Stealth TT and my friends honda with integra engine. Start moving up and race stuff that u dont think u will beat. The outcome might be surprising and its always more fun.

DC350. With age cpomes wisdom.

Thing is, some gentlemen forget what age they outgrew their need to learn through experience.

I think that if you take it smooth it'll be cool. In as much as you learn from it. No one can make you into the driver you're ultimately going to become. Some people can afford a track. Some people Like tracks. I would love to spend hours at the track without the thought of smokey doin' a smack down on the joy ride.

But lets face it. Life was meant to be lived. Legal or not.

Have fun. Becareful.

It simply doesn't have the rev power. I bet the hyundia's power will drop off at about 4300 right about when you fly by him in first. and then he'll go for second, look up and you be gone.

yeah,

i really wasnt flaming i was just explaining why i dont like street racing because NZConvertible said it and he jumped down his throaght. as long as it is safe go for it. all i was saying are the reasons i wouldnt do it.

but truly...Hyundai????? my friend has an elantra that he is getting new cams for and some NOS. it is so hard not to laugh at him. but it is all about perspective. i am sure the V8 guys look at us and say the same thing (well they probably have a little respect) but hyundais really do suck ***. even the new tiburon is weak compared to other japanese sports cars.

i just want to tell my friend to give up, i flew by him coming up the savannah bridge. (he couldnt accelerate going uphill)

oh well

Hey, I AM A V8 guy, I only drive rotaries or chevy's with a minimum of 8 cylinders. Through learning the rotary, there is a replacement for displacement, that is technology, which is everything a rotary encompases. Most of my domestic buddies(El camino's w/502's, 70 GTO's, etc) Will never look down upon a 300zxTT a supra, and ESPECIALLY an rx7. My group of friends and I believe that those are some of the only true japanese performance cars(need to mention the MR2, Eagle talon TSI AWD, and the new WRX) and are the only thing worth spending time and money on.

I know that two cars racing on an empty road in the middle of nowhere is not that dangerous. I know nothing will probably come of this race, his first. But do you really believe that next time it won't be a little less deserted or a little closer to town? And the next time? My comments were aimed at those who race in obviously dangerous locations.
You need to look at the bigger picture. Why do you think the cops gives modified car owners a hard time? Why do you think insurance on an RX-7 and/or a younger driver is so high? It's because of the small percentage of ********* who race on the street and either get caught or kill someone (hopefully only themselves, but not usually). Every time this happens, it reflects on all of us, whether it's deserved or not.
I'm a committee member of a rotary club that organises track days, drag events and autocrosses. Despite this we're still viewed as a bunch of irresponsible hoons because this is the general public perception of anyone who modifies cars. Street racers hurt our reputation and make it harder to organise events and gain public support.
Something to think about. Sorry about the rant...
