Exclamation Street Port tunning problems

Hello im going to take in my N/A 88 gxl next week to get a street port dont to it. But ive heard that the engine wont run correctly unless you do some tunning to it.
I was hearing something about the fuel pressure and the ecu not giving enough or giving to much gas. So what do i need to get to have my car running after i get my ports done? Thank you for your help.

Re: Street Port tunning problems

Plenty of people seem to be running their streetports on the factory ECU without problems, but it is true that the more modified an engine is the less ideal the factory mixtures become. Factory mixtures are always conservatively rich though. Fuel pressure should be OK, but it wouldn't hurt to have it dyno'd after the engine's run in to check the mixtures. That'll tell you if further tuning is required. A dyno-tuned fuel computer like the S-AFC will allow you to tune the mixtures to suit your mods.

If your still using the stock ecu be sure not to go to big on the intake port because stock ecu's can't read the overlap and the car will run like ****
