Street port with stock ECU

hey, i searched and couldnt find anything....idk if my terms were wrong or what but...yeah....

just wondering, as i have a S4/S5 hybrid TII motor bulit and street ported by banzai racing. currently its in a S4 coupe chassis with a Power FC and banzais adapter harness....well i decided i wanted a Vert instead of a coupe, and since the motor is still new with 0 miles i still have to break it in, and for my own personal piece of mind i want to do so utalizing stock (S4) TII componets such as turbo, manifold, intercooler and such as i have them lying around and then i dont have to go and get tuned for break in, and then again for power.

so i was wondering if i throw in the stock TII components along with a S5 TII ECU could i safely run the engine through its break in period untill i get the S5 adapter harness for my PFC and get the dough for a tuning session or do i have to run standalone??

Unless your port is absolutely huge, there is no reason a different ECU is needed. You won't get any more airflow out of the stock turbo, since you'll just be pushing it even more out of the efficiency range if you turn the boost up. But if you're talking about breaking in the engine, you shouldn't be running much (if any) boost anyhow.

We build SP engines for people all the time with stock ECUs.

However in your case you are talking about a conversion into an S5 from an S4, you do realize that you do not have an electronic oil metering pump. This is going to throw any stock S5 ECU into limp mode. You would also need the S5 TPS & TB, AFM, boost sensor etc, none of the S4 items can be used.

In your case it might just be less expensive to install the Power FC, since you already have it.

It will not bolt onto the S4 front cover, you could just stuff it in the engine bay somewhere, you will need to premix.
