Street port and stock ECU

Ok I just have a quick question.. on a S5 T2 engine can I give it a street port and still use the stock T2 ecu?

to give detail in case it matters..

I will be using all s4 intake and sensors, S5 twin scroll turbo with s5 header so I can use a S4 T2 ECU. so a S5 engine/turbo with S4 intake (4 port) street port engine can I still use the stock S4 T2 ecu.

THX in advance guys!

I'm betting you couldn't because you may need more control over timing than the stock ECU offers.

When I first bought my car, I was told it was ported.

I was running stock ECU with no problems. Eventually coolant seals went out, but I think it was just cause of age.

are you positive that was actually true, and was yours a 13bt or 13b? I believe turbos are a little more sensitive to timing.

You can. My friend has a large streetport, and he's running the stock T2 ecu.

You can, but, i'm sure you know this already, you'd be better suited with some time of programmable ECU that does both fuel and timing. You could always go for an SAFC, but that's less than optimal.

I already have a SAFC wired into my harness so thats not a problem I just want to make sure when I get this dropped in that I will be able to fire it up and atleast take it for a drive on the stock ECU before I have to worry about megasquirt or anything else

Yea, you should be good to go then. Make sure your timing is at least set to stock or slightly retarded.

my plan for this engine will be to have a s5 turbo twin scroll with a header (depending on cost maybe stock exhaust manifold), and the racing beat rev 2 exhaust (thats the plan) stock S4 T2 intake manifold btw S5 T2 engine and internals S4 T2 frt cover

well gotta be careful with boost if you are upgrading exhaust, run a chance of leaning out..

Yes. My car is turbo. But the stupid thing is, the engine was ported but everything else remained stock, IE exhaust, injectors, intake. Kind of pointless to port the motor and still restrict, but had no choice I guess. Had to prevent boost creep and lean conditions.

What about the RTEK? Its not much more than a new SAFC and can control fuel and timing.

BDC rebuilt and ported my S4 TII engine back in April 2005. I've been driving it with everything stock (except the 3" turbo back exhasut) since then with no problems.

I definately need a aftermarket computer (Halteh, RTEK) to take advantage of the port, but you can definately run stock boost and timing with no problems.
A ported engine will flow more, so more boost can be expected.

I was running 280-300hp on my daily driver with a similar street port & SAFC.
I pushed up the boost to ~12psi with a FCD, manual boost controller, 720 secondaries, and a 255lph rewired fuel pump.
The fun part was a 3.5" electric dump valve in the downpipe.
I miss that car..

As you push up the power, you'll find that the AFM hits 100% at ~5K.
That's where the SAFC helps a lot.
I was using a Cosmo AFC to get a more linear input.

You can get away with using the stock computer for a while, just remember to reatard the timing 1 degree per psi after 10psi. (LITTLE TRICK GUITARJUNKIE28 TAUGHT ME)

But to take advantage of your porting, an ems is best.
