i have to say it looked a lot bigger in the far shot then close up... I would think you would want to go bigger on the port then start beveling the rotors?. I am going to be building a full bridge motor and i am thinking i might actually do the beveling as well after seeing your pics... You will definantly have to find a local $40.oo dyno day and make a few pulls. It would be nice to know how much power and what RPM its at... Anyhow props for stepping up and doing it and thanks for the pictures. Keep us updated

Bigger ports are like booze. A little is fun. Too much and you get in trouble.

Today I'm at 250 miles, shifting at 5K & 5PSI boost, just starting to test it.

well, you can count me in as being one of the guys that recognizes and supports your efforts. i hope it all works out for you. i can't wait to hear the reports of what it does when you're able to open it up. dyno pulls would be great, but i guess more than one variable has been changed so it would matter very little. good job, anyway!

i support you all the way dude. it takes alot of ***** to do something like this from the seat of your pants, but, you also have a backup plan if this engine blows up...and you learn wayyyyy more than what you spent in money on the engine

Wouldnt that lower the cr of the rotors alot, cutting away all that material?

I wouldn't think so Those should just let more of a mixture in.... Combustion will still take place in the unchanged bathtub.

Oh, and this project looks very cool! I cant wait to see some dyno sheets.

yes, it could lower compression.

my question is how much would this lower compression, i understand the potential is based on the size of the bevels, but if this is done, to an amount say lke CLR rotors, how much would that lower compression?

I'm sure if you had a machine shop in your area that was willing to bevel the rotors for next to nothing, you would have gone ahead with it through them, as long as it didn't interupt your time schedule.
no, DIY can be for nothing other than the sake of DIY...

i'm not saying anything about SureShot's particular motives, as I have no idea either way, but DIY can be for a number of other reasons other than saving money, and no, its not dumb.

Interim progress report:

400 miles, shifting at 5K boost at 6 PSI. All is well

The oil & filter get changed this weekend. That will clear out any assembly debris & assembly lube.

how exciting, looking forward to hearing your impressions once you take it all the way, and a dynosheet would be pretty cool too Well done on the DIY! That's what it's all about!

This has been done many times by racers to "enhance" the "stock class" engines. Works really well. Good job and good luck.

interim update:
500 miles - oil change - dial boost up to 7 PSI.
This is getting interesting - start out easy - floor it - the tires start spinning - when I nail 2nd at 6K the tires just keep on spinning (a new experience for me).
1st & 2nd gear boost is falling off >6K - Hmm - I probably need to keep it below 6K for a while longer anyway.

The idle sounds perfectly stock, with a little more growl on rev up.
The ACT street light flywheel seems nicely matched to this motor.

The long term plan:
Turbo back stainless exhaust, wideband, water injection, then maybe a hybrid compressor,
Oh yea & more tires.

I should be able to get some videos posted next month.

I have a really tight torque brace, so I feel torque vibration during low rev acceleration.
Other than that no vibration.

After 524 miles of break in:
Link to video clip (avi 1.9Mb)

60 degrees ambient - 7PSI boost - G-tech net HP (after aero & drive line loss)
I'm getting close to 250 FWHP.
