I have a starting problem that i just can not figure out. I was driving my car after work started up no problem. Stopped at a store and when i came out the car would not start. Battery is good but the car will not even turn over. All I can hear is the starter spinning. I was able to roll start the car so i know the fuel pump is working. But when i drove it there was now a screeching sound coming from the engine.

your starter isn't catching the flywheel... try to push the car in gear to move the flywheel a bit. if that doesn't work smack the starter, if that doesn't work pull the starter, make sure the flywheel is okay and then replace the starter.

 

Also the starter could not be poping forward to catch the starter. also check the wiring.
