yea, because i can hear the turbo spooling before that, and it doesnt sound like any turbo ive ever heard before. most of the time i just hear hissing as a spooling sign from the turbo.

Do you still have your A/C hooked up?

Sounds like maybe the turbo is going bye-bye.

I disagree, I think I am familiar with the sound he is talking about. check the a/c compressor if it is still there, if you have an e-fan that is just directly wired in and constantly running, check that too.

In gear only? Maybe its a transmission input bearing going out? Without hearing it myself, I have only guesses.

OR.. Maybe its your girlfriend/wife whining in the passenger seat about your loud exhaust... Ignore it, it will go away.

I think I have the same problem in my 87 GXL man, it only happens sometimes right? For me anyways thats what it does. Only after 4000rpm does it do a hissing sound that gets louder the more you accelrate, this happens in all gears (havent noticed on my 5th gear yet). If its my A/C i should just remove eh?

see what gears it does it in. If it doesnt do it in fourth then it is your input bearing. Maybe it could also be your differential bearing.

if you replaced your stock fuel pump with an aftermarket one it could easily be a lot louder. my walbro 255 is pretty loud sometimes. I can easily hear it in the car.
