strange noise from exhuast

Car details-
89T2
1300 on rebuild.(noise was there before rebuild)
3" turbo back
garett to4b hybrid w/ported wastegate

Ok here is my problem. The car makes a noice that sounds like an exhaust leak when it is at idle. It sounds similar to a miss. It makes the noise also when I shift at low rpms. And since the TPS needs adjusting and when it hunting for an idle it makes the noice as soon as the rpms drop. When accelerating the noise goes away until I let off the gas.

I thought it was an exhaust leak but I was underneath the car today while it was on a hoist and it deff isnt an exhaust leak. Mainly I am wondering if anyone has ever had any symptoms like this or if anyone has any ideas on things to look for.

Thanks,
Josh

i had a similar problem to yours, make sure all the nuts that hold you DP to the Turbo housing are all ther and tight. I found out that one of mine fell off somehow and was causing a noticable leak in my engine bay. Im in Novi by the way, we should meet up some time. -alex

yeah actually thats where I thought the leak was and when the engine was rebuilt new studs and gasket were installed. I know there isnt a leak there anymore.

What I am wondering is if its possible a part from the 02 sensor is loose inside the downpipe.
It sounds like something is actually inside the downpipe. So I am trying to think of things that could of possible became loose inside the turbo or wastegate that might be causing the rattle.

That's crazy... I just noticed a strange noise coming from my exhaust today while at idle. What you described is exactly the way mine is, except I have an n/a. Still very strange... Mine sounds like an exhaust leak, but I'm not sure exactly what it is yet.

I've been trying to figure out what that noise is too. Mine does it a little more with the AC on, but mainly when the rpm's bounce low.
