Exclamation Strange Idle (Any Ideas?)

Hello,

My car drives fine at times. The engine light kicks on then it acts as if its about to die then goes back to normal or sometimes. It will idle very very rough then normal then go back to rough and kicks around sometimes. I changed the fuel filter. Checked the vacuum lines... Still to no availe... If anyone has an input... Please tell me (The only place to work on rx's here is 50 miles away not to mention they overcharge 200 bucks just for looking at it) This is for a 1990 GTU

Thank you,
VanGota

if its acting as if its rough at times when the light comes on then it is probably going into cripple ore lame mode which is a code 8,10,and 20 you can check the code yourself. go to www.fc3spro.com and lok for the wright up on how to check it.

go to "tech sections" then "how to's" then to "Scanning ECU for error codes on Kouki FC3S"

that should help

many idle issues end up coming back to the TPS, so make sure that it is within range search for tps adjustment on this forum for info on how

This may be and idle or TPS adjustment. The best way to start your diagnosis is to check the diagnostic codes. I assume this is your S5 and you can find the process to get the codes from your engine check light by doing a search on "diagnostic codes". Usually the problem your having is gonna be related to a bad component or some adjustment with the emissions equipment. If your engine check light is coming on then you should find one or more diagnostic codes stored in the ECU.

Thanks guys for your help, I am gonna try that CPU trouble thing (I also changed the t1,t2,l1,l2 wires I think I might have mixed them up before when I was cleaning the spark plug. So I reconnected them right this time even if it was wrong or right. But I was looking to find this webpage so thank you guys, I will return when I have found the problem Thanks.
