Umm, no. Even 20B NA's (streetable) are pushed to produce 380 hp.
If you are producing that much power, than your engine will be built up enough that you can rev past the stock redline, and STILL not need a 6-speed.

The mystery of the prize.
the 6 speed could increase your top speed only if the overdrive gear is less overgeared than the stock 5 speed's overdrive.
I've topped out NA FC's in 4th gear around 140mph with the buzzer screaming, shift into 5th and the car decelerates @ WOT. If the ratio wasnt so tall in 5th, making it a bit closer to 1:1 like the miatas 6th gear is compared to the fc's 5th, it would probably accelerate a little bit more up to around 150 before it ran out of power in 6th.

Some where on here( to lazy to search right now)there was a post about a conversion that put a GM six speed in an FC.I think it was mostly turbo guys that did it though.I think there were acouple of people in the thread that had done it.Maybe I'll search for it later.

no NA FC would ever have enough torque for a 6 speed.
I don't even think its possible to match a GM 6 speed tranny with a 13B, and even if it was the car would drive like ****. I think I need to see pics of this to believe it, otherwise I think this is BS.

This isn't the thread I was thinking of but I did find this one. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...=t56+six+speed Also searched in the rotary performance section.Alot of talk about the swap but I can't seem to find if it has been done.It was mostly 3rd gen and TII guys who were making big power talking about it anyway so as far as a the n/a being discussed in this thread it is comparing apples to oranges. Also I don't think it was ever established what kind of six speed it is.I had just remembered hearing rumors of an adapter to mate a T56 six speed to a rotary thats all.

if a miata can do it I think a FC could

the point of all six speeds IS NOT to give you another overdrive
NOT all six speeed give you higher top speed
as was stated before MANY six speeds have a 5th gear ratio of 1:1
just like a normal 5 speed has with 4th being the 1:1
the first five gears of many many six speeds are made to be closer together
your comment makes it sound like we don't even need 5 speeds
lets go for a 4 speed
you know 3 + overdrive
also when building a car as you talk to produce more power many times that narrows down the powerband making a 6 speed even more welcome
this way on each gear shift the rpms don't drop so much and you are better able to stay in the powerband
you ask me I would love a 6 speed just for the better acceleration
so point of this pose of mine
remind you that six speeds a lot of time don't give you more top end
rather many times better acceleration because there is less of a drop of rpms keeping you in the powerband

Like rxspeed says...
It would be nice to have an extra gear somewhere in there -- it doesn't have to go up at the top.
The S2000 is quite similar to the 7 in its revvy, low torque nature. 6 speed close-ratio is natural for a little car that likes to rev high. Also more fun flipping through the gears, wider range of ratios for a wider range of situations, cool factor...
Ya, it kinda sucks to crap out in 5th on the freeway, but it is good for gas mileage on a long ride.

dude makes a point, by saying do na's have the power
to max out 5th. i can say that i have never maxed out
5th for that matter 4th, i maxed 3rd at 120+mpg.
but in the end like NZvert said 2nd gen did not come
with a stock 6 speed tranny, I have heard of
conversions done and aftermarket trannys and such but
to me it seems that some cheap *** found that tranny
in a junk yard and swaped it in. neverthe less i still
think i would buy the car. and a used ecu and drive it
over to that dudes house and ask if he had anything
else for the car. but thats jsut me.

that is around 6500-7000rpms for me in fourth gear
who knows the rpms you would need to run that in third
