Arrow Straight pipe replacment of CAT. Systems?

I have the Bonez hi flow cat and I need to get it out to see if it is part of my low torque problem.

I was thinking of just buying the Bonez midpipe ($90 shipped) and going with that. However, it is a 2.5" ID system. However, I have heard problems of gaskets being blown out on this system.

Then I was thinking about going with the Thunder Fabrication DP/MP system. That is $200 shipped and it is a 3" ID system. That does seem a lot better.

With either I am affraid my ears will bleed. But what the hell. Which system would you guys go with.

Here are my mods

Atkins Streetported Engine
Upgraded stock turbo
TO4E-46
Ported wastegate
8° Exhaust clip
TB Mod
Apex N1 Dual
RP DP - With exhaust wrap
Bonez Hi Flow Cat
Walbro High Flow Fuel Pump (Rewire done)
Water Temp, Boost, Oil Temp, Oil Pres
Techedge Wideband V1.0
HKS FCD
Apex S-AFC
720CC Secondaries
Koni Sport Struts
Greddy Turbo Timer
ACT Street/Strip Clutch
Braided SS Clutch Flex hose

And here is the dyno sheet that pisses me off.

And the thread about it. https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/dyno-run-torque-where-196537/

I say you need a bridge ported N/a engine in there. That will cure it.

I have that DP/MP. It's loud, but the N1 duals may have something to do with that. I have to slap the cats back on for inspection, so I'd be able to say the noise level increase after I do that...should be this weekend.

Thats cool. I have a feeling it is just going to be loud. Have you tried your combo with the silencers in place?

Don't own any silencers sadly...It's not too bad if I just keep it under 3K...great for gas mileage...as soon as it tops 4K under full boost, it screams pretty loud till 7.5K.

hmm isn't that Tq at the flywheel that mazda quoted back then? I mean he is talking about Tq at the wheels not the "crank"

I made 164.8 ft/lbs stock S5 everything w/81,000 miles. That's at the wheels, HP was 172.2.

slow87turbo,

I did not know that Bonez made a Pre Silencer for the TII. Can you give me a link? Thanks. I was looking at the Racing Beat system that had the pre silencer. However, the piping is only 2.5" ID. I was thinking about a 3" being best.

My thoughts on low torque is that I have been running pig rich on that hi flow cat for 6000 plus miles.

That could have lead to it being clogged.

I am using a MBC on it.

Josepi - Thank you for the stock numbers. That is a good reference.

well what you do is get just the pre silencer it will bolt up where your cat went. and just as a refrence. i have 2.5 all the way back to the STOCK cat back. and i have 6-7psi at 28oo and 10psi at 5ooo. so 2.5 is fine for me. mine is still quiet becouse of the stock cat back. i will be getting a strait pipe cat back soon so i will be getting a pre silencer also. its just a thought. i only use my cat for emitions time. where are you located?

Keep in mind that's a S5, I can post the graph and even one with a A/F chart. The stock ECU was running 11.3:1 at 6,350!

Question ??

Well Mabey the problem with your exhaust isn't it..Mabey you have to tune your secondaries better..
Have you taken it to get DYNO TUNED by a pro??.
On my car I have the Full Racing Beat 3.15 inch downpipe to silencer. Then to a RB y pipe to 2 RB\RSR mufflers..The car is quiet at idle and no boost driving..I could hear the turbo Way more compared to the stock system..Also I have yet to install my FCD..I only can 1\2 throttle it in 1st and 2nd gears and my car starts to peeel out at 3500 rpm when full bost comes on!!..I can't wait to get the FCD installed..Full throttle must feel heavenly.Just don;t wanna hit Stock Fuel Cut Off at 10psi so I keep a good aya on the boost gauge and make sure it dosen't go past half of what the stock one reads..I need a boost gauge(anybody got one for sale??)Oh yea also Im waiting for my S-AFC2 to come..Till then here is a look before I installed the Full system..

DONE =) TIME TO SHOOT FLAMES!!!!
