Stock wood enhancements
I see lots of mod lists, but most are performance focused. Thought I'd show a different take on mods.
Don't think you've seen many Verts with Stock cherry wood steering wheel, hand brake grip, & shift ****.
Some of you you long time Wankle fans will recognize. But for the rest, this came out of a 1978 Cosmo. Aside from about 10 minutes of minor fabrication to properly mount the steering wheel, it all just went on like original equipment.
Unfortunately the JPG is too big to attach. If someone out there can adjust so it can be seen, please give me your e-mail address and I'll send it to you.
Aside from a hidden sub-woofer and adding electronics for keyless entry & one touch window controls, the only thing not stock is the cell phone and a CD Changer. However, I wired both of these so they would interface with the stock radio head unit like it all was OEM. CD player Controller is hidden in the hollowed out ash tray.
I've done stock, or stock like, performance upgrades like LSD Diff with 4.3 Ring and Pinion, lighten steel flywheel, S5 TII wheels, etc.. But ultimate "good idea" left to do, of course, is the TII drivetrane retro-fit.
The theme for my Vert has been primarily to take Mazda's best Wankle car ideas and pull them together in one car.
Anyone else out there that's taken anything like this mod route?

so hozz
I didn't know you had the 4.3 rear end on there... did it make a noticeable difference or???
And I just got a 95 M edition Miata hand brake in that wood. Now I just gotta get a good wood shift **** to match.

4.3 Diff
Not as noticable as I had hoped. But seat of the pants noticable never the less.
Maybe you can post a pic of your Miata wood hand brake grip?

Hand brake is exactly the same on the 1st gen Miata as our cars, even the same plastic cover. On the 95 M edition they came with rose wood accents.
But I'll try and take the laptop out to the garage with the web cam and take a picture.

Thanks
Looking at it, I realize I forgot to mention the little plastic vent airplane mod.
Also, that I removed the leather in favor of cloth on my seats. First time I sat in the leather seat after the car had been parked with top down in open sun I was wearing shorts. The sizzling noise from my legs was enough to conclude this was my first required mod.

Pretty cool look. I would like to see how those S5 TII wheels look. They are 16" aren't they? I've considered getting some of those, but haven't seen any on a vert yet.
I can relate to that sizzle from the leather seats.

S5 TII wheels
Actually, I got lucky on those. Saw an advertisement in the Recycler for CHROME '90 TII wheels with good Tires for $50 each.
Nice history behind them. The car they came off of was built by the same guy that built the 3rd Gen in the movie Fast and Furious. He just decided he wanted to go with aftermarket. Nice side benefit of living in LA LA land.
Biggest surprise was the noticable difference in the ride.
Not harsher like I expected, but much better stick in the turns as expected.
And, the Roadster look is exactly what I was looking to create. Guess that look isn't for everyone.
