I'm a first time rx-7 owner didn't know much about them all i knew is that i liked the way it looked, i'm learnig very quickly thaugh. I got lucky my car is in exellent shape, mine is a n/a and i was wondering if the tubo II makes that pshhh sound, or do u have to get a better BOV or watever. I know i sound stupid but like i said i dunno. Plus i'm only 15 and i can't drive it (legally) until i'm 16 so i dun know much. give me credit thaugh i learned to drive stick in an hour.

no problem...
To answer your question, no not really the stock turbo II does not make that sound (much) in order to get that lovley sound, you must install a Blow Off Valve.

blow off valves work like a charm. since you already have that nice sweet pitch tone of the rotary engine putting in a blow off valve will be....ouch. lol oh yea btw rotary gx7 nice little cut and paste with the rims ^_- lookz nice

yes sorry, i did fail to mention this...

There are a lot of BOV's out there, but really only two types.

recirculating.
atmospherical.

the recirculating one (spelling?) directs the pressure from the turbo right back into the intake. just like the stock one does. these tend to be much much quieter.

the atmospherical directs the pressure of the turbo to the engine bay (no ware) this is why you can hear them.

and of course there are differant brands of BOV's and they all sound differant. i know personally how the apexi BOV sounds, it even has settins on it to chang how loud it is.

I have heard of one made by XS enginering. its something like 110 DB's loud.

some create a WHHOOOSSSHHH sound ( like the Apexi ) and some create more of a whistle.

hope this helps a little.

If you make a cold air intake for your TII you will get a much better noise than one of those psssshhhhthttttt sounds. It will sound like its breathing and when you get a blow off it will fade out, sounds much slicker than pshshshhsfhhthtahtsthththhth!

Although it's up to you how you want your car to sound remember there maybe some unwanted attention headed your way. By cops, rice haters, and thieves - calling attention to your car by the fact that you have sunk some money into it may alert said theives who would not have noticed it previously.
There's alot to be said for sleeper vehicles.

He doesn't have a T2, he has an NA and wants his car to make the psssh sound. Go check ebay, they have those speakers that go under your hood and make that sound at the push of a button.

I think this goes back to a thread posted yesterday. He doesn't have a turbo, doesn't know what a BOV is or does, but just wants the car to make that cool psshh sound.
Let's play Hangman. The above mentioned situation is called: _ _ _ _

Don't they sell something that makes that sound on Ebay? I know I've seen a thread for it in the lounge. Riceomatic 3000 or something like that.

Don't mind the idiot post ****** (2ndGen.rocket, elfking..) who apparently cannot read. Some how the think that you want to put it on you're car when you specificially stated that you wanted to know about a Turbo II. I'd just like to point out that this forum does have a search feature and an archive which you could use b/c this i'm sure has been covered a million times before. Just an idea to keep you from being called a ricer and being flamed..Welcome to the club. Oh and BOV's are mad tyte y0!

My friends used to describe my stock TII sound as a....

Hairdryer!! I'd get vaccuum cleaner too sometimes tho...

Not much ppshhh sound until you vent the BOV to atmosphere.

I am pretty sure all stock turbo II's don't make any noise when shifting. Simply becuase they use a Bypass valve instead of a blow off valve. Bypass being that instead of venting the extra pressure into the air, it re-circulates it back in after the MAF.

Therefore I don't know where you are getting your comment about sounding alot cooler then stock, since it makes no noise to being with.
