Stock tach not working 90 N/A
Okay guys, Im a newbie and have searched for answers. The posts that I found havent really helped me out any. The tach on my 90 N/A is not working. All other gauges work fine. Fuse for the METER is not blown or anything. Oil/Fuel/Volt/Temp all function properly. The posts I've read said something about the leading/ trailing coil. I have not seen such a setup on any car so I don't know exactly what I'm looking for. The haynes manual I skimmed over I couldnt seem to determine which was the lead coil and vice versa. I checked all connections cleaned them up and still nothing. Will someone shine some light on the situation for me. Thanks in advance !

by the trailing coil there should be a blue/yellow (i believe?) wire, which is where the tach gets its signal. Download the FSM at fc3s.org and look thru it. It will tell you how to test the tach in probably more than one place. I mean hailers doesnt pull all this **** out of his ***

I had the problem. It was the 14G wire that goes from the back of the engine (where the bellhousing and engine meet) and goes to the firewall. Check that, as that has been the problem for a few of the guys around here.

Try this. Start the car. Tach not working? Rap on the plexiglass cover in front of the gauges. Works now??? Bide you time by rapping on the plexiglass to make it work.......or fix it by removing the combination meter and carefully cleaning all the screw contacts on the back.
Write back if rapping on the plexiglass worked.
