stock stereo setup for 90 n/a

just wondering if the stock stereo system ran 6 indavidual channels (3 sets of lefts and rights a true six speaker system) or are the front four speakers (dash and panel) hooked up to one channel while the rear two are hook up to another making it 2 sets of L and R channels.

if its a true 6 speaker system how is the system routed? 3 sets of channels, each set of channels leads to a factory amps (making it 3 stock amps) to 6 speakers (two for each amp)?

if not a true 6 speaker system how is it routed? two sets of channels, one set of channel leading to 2 facotry amps to 4 speakers for the front and another set of channel to 1 facotry amp to 2 speakers for the rear? or is it reversed.

knowing if the stock deck had two sets of channels could answer this. i have a 90 gxl coupe stock cassete with EQ and power antenna.

if non of those setups are correct please inform me of the real stock setup including wiring (how they run from the stock deck to the 6 speakers.
also i would like to know if there were any after market decks that ran true 6 speaker set up with no seperate amps. id like to buy one.

sorry if im bot being clear. thanks in advance.

6 channel system, with the door speakers as woofers/subwoofers (if a 6" speaker could ever be truely considered a subwoofer).

Front Left
Front Right
Rear Left,
Rear right
Woofer Left
Woofer right

In addition if you have a vert you have:

Front Left
Front Right
Headrest Left,
Headrest right
Woofer Left
Woofer right

As far as factory amps, it would depend on radio/type/and model as far as what amps there are.

thanks man. so the stock deck had something like 15W X6 (15 watts mutiplied by 6) hooked up to the EQ then to individual amps then to speakers. i find it hard to believe the old school deck had 15W X6. it seems too advance for its time, dont you think so?

But it was pretty advanced for its time. How many other '89-'90 cars do you know came with a cd player?

I wouldn't call it a true 6-channel system. According to the schematics the door woofer amp is fed from the front speaker wires. So the front and door speakers get the same signal, the door speakers just get more power.

thanks NZ. i knew it wasnt really a true 6 channel stereo stystem. the dash and door panel speaker go to individual amps then together to one channel from the stereo stystem. the rears 2 speakers share there own amp and channel making the whole system really having only two sets of channels. something like 20W x4 instead of something like 15W x6 (a true 6 channel stereo system). thats all i wanted to know. i should of just looked at the speaker wires that connected to the deck, it would of explained this. thanks to all that replied.

No, You don't understand anything about the stock system do you???

The stock deck might have had 15x2, but always had a seperate amp for woofers and generally for the rear speakers.

Some systems had amps for each speaker.

It again depended on options and model.

Here is the typical S5 vert setup:

Again dependent on year, option package and sub model.

Some door speakers were driven only by a seperate woofer amp.
