Stock shifter

I just find the stock shifter a little too big... Is it possible to cut down the shifter to a smaller height, and swap the ***** for a FD ****? The FD shifter is great, short, and nice looking, reminds me of my friends MR2-T. Has anyone done this or know where to start?

ive done it on my MR2 when i had it. just pull the **** off and cut it with a saw. dont cut it to short or the **** whont go on. as for a FD shifter you would have to thread the shifter again. i personally like the stock shifter because its heavy and shifts the best

I have a short shifter (you can get them from mazdatrix, etc) and it is GREAT.

I LOVE the short throws, and its feels REALLY comftorable. Looks good (not so HUGE) and Im using the stock ****... im sure you could get a FD **** on there if you had to.

Here's a pic of my shifter...

Higgi sells them. He's over seas but the price is still good.

Ya, I heard alot of vibration is caused by short shifters because of bushings, but anything happening to yours?
