stock S5 wastgate help

I have developed a horrible noise that I thought was an exhaust leak. Well I got underneath the 7 today and found that the noise was coming from the wastgate actuator rod.
Where the rod connects to the wastegate there is a small bracket and that bracket is loose. And when it moves it makes a rattling noise inside the wastgate.

Here is my question. Where that plate attaches to the wastegate, what does it attach to on the inside of the wastegate? I am just trying to see what I might need to fix the current set-up or if I should just replace it because my hybrid has some shaft play. (just found that out today also!

Thanks in advance
Josh

yeah good call. I was just curious to know whats on the other side. Not really that I want to see it. Either way I would know, which is good. I am just debating if I should just cough up the cash and get the BNR

I'm not too sure what you are asking but here are some pictures I have. The clip you are talking about I believe is the small C-clip that attaches to the wg actuator rod and is very important. If that is loose your wg may fail and cause boost to skyrocket.

Are you talking about the actual flapper door or the backplate?

thank for the pic. I have the c clamp installed but where that connects to the wastegate is where the problem lies.

The rod attaches to a bracket via the c clamp. that bracket is what is loose. So I am wondering what that bracket goes to. I am thinking that the wastegate is stuck up or half open. especially since the car doesnt hardly boost at all in first gear. Which is normal but it is basically an NA is first.

Yeah thats what I am thinking. Its something inside the wastegate. But I am also thinking that since I am tearing it all apart why not upgrade. So BNR stage 2 or 3 sounds about right. Just move my 720s to primaries, and get an even larger fuel pump. and larger secondary injectors. Anyone have any ideas on other/better turbo setups that are ok for a semi daily driven street car.
