Stock S4 turbo on oil cooling only!

Hey guys, over the weekend while doing a turbo swap a buddy of mine broke the coolant return banjo bolt on the turbo side. it was late and i just said eff it and we blocked off the coolant feed and return on the manifold. so now im running and S4 turbo with oil cooling only. fill me in on the pros and cons guys. thx

No pros, turbo life will probably be shorter because the oil in the turbo will probably coke. You'll need to let the car idle for at least one minute before shutting it off to help prevent bearing coking, but you should probably fix the broken line.

Also, port dat wastegate son.

^ Bingo. Water cooling helps prevent coking by allowing heat to dissipate after you shut the engine down.

Thx, i just need to know if there are any immediate issues. the turbo is temporary, considering i replaced my blown s5 turbo for that piece. ******* misinformation i swear. i make it a habit to allow the car to cool even when i had the water cooling as well.

My fc has been on oil cooling only for years with no adverse effects on the turbo. Consider the quality of oil back in the 80's compared to conventional oils now, much higher temp ranges, boiling points, flash, solidification, etc... +1 on waiting for spin down or use a turbo timer.

^^^ Thx alot man, i have always allowed my car to spin down. So you just blocked off the cooling ports or got the turbo like that?
