Stock ECU Info, s4, s5, mt, auto

Have S5 NA MT, but car was auto, is there a difference in the ecu?

Also, could I use a turbo ecu or s4 ecu?

Any info appreciated!

im a nub at rx7's but i know that the plugs for a s4 and s5 computer are different. in size and pins so no harm in using a turbo ecu but u have to stick with ur car s4 or s5 unless ur dead set on rewiring everything. also like i said im a nub ar 7's but if u put in a turbo ecu i would get a turbo fuel pump

thanks, i would just think fuel maps would be way off, and the rev limiter...
don't need turbo fuel pump, just put in a walbro 255, but don't see why i'd need that anyway.

anybody else know?

The S5 has an oil metering pump that is electrically driven by the Ecu whilst the S4 is mechanical in nature so if you use an S4 ECU on the S5 you will have to manually add your own oil among other things. Not worth the headache, just stick with like kind.

i see, i'll stick with getting s5 ecu, maybe just better off getting a stand-alone anyway, and avoid headaches

the auto's have there own seperate computer, which is a question i think you were asking. also n/a AFM, boost sensor, injectors and fuel pump goes with n/a computer, turbo AFM, boost sensor, injectors and fuel pump goes with turbo computer. mixing and matching is not supported on this forum, so don't ask questions later when you jew it up. =D

this whole post is very confusing. what exactly are you doing? if everything is already in your car then there is no need to change anything. did you do a tranny swap or soemthing?

I want to know if I should put in a manual ecu if it is more proper and performs better than the automatic ecu which is probably in my car.

There is NOT a separate part number for s5 auto or 5 speed ecus. Without a complete rewire you cannot use s4 ecus(turbo or n/a) as the harness is different(it wont even plug in without a rewire) and certain parts you have(like mop) are not a part of the s4 electronics and vise versa. You can use a turbo s5 ecu(usdm) if you get the correct map, injectors and afm, but you will loose certain features like electronic 6pi and vdi which is generally considered a bad thing.

Thats the gist of it, if it is working properly no reason to change out(since there isnt a mtx version).

There is no ECU dedicated to just automatic cars.

EDIT: OOPS, that's already been answered a few posts above.
