damn dialup. here is the post:

i just noticed today the boost gauge in my dash just stopped working. doesn;t move at all. any ideas? i don't know if it has anythign to do with it but the idle will jump up and down when ihav the clutch in but not when it's out. i doubt it has anything to do with it but i disconnected the 5th gear and reverse switch. reverse switch shorted and kept blowing my gauges. the boost gauge did work up unil today

If the gauge is toast it's no big deal, it's crap anyway and you should have an aftermarket one if you're doing any mods. But if the sensor it reads from isn't working, that's serious, because the ECU takes a manifold pressure reading from it too. The pressure sensor is mounted on the front of the RHS strut tower in the engine bay, and has a 4-pin plug and a rubber hose. Check that both are securely attached. Follow the hose to the manifold to make sure it's secure there too.

mine quit too, I replaced the pressure sensor just to be sure. If the 3 TIIs I have seen in person, none of the gauges worked.

Mine didn't work for the longest time and then one day it started working. It doesn't have any bearing on reality once you start modding the car anyway

Ditto here. I fixed it by removing the cluster and cleaning the contacts on the back of the PCB where the guage attaches (2 or three brass screws IIRC). All of the screw were loose. Tightening/cleaning them caused the gauge to work perfectly.
