Stock +/- battery terminals connect to where?

Alright I searched, but what I've mostly come across was just adding grounding wire. So I wanted to make sure that I am doing is right because I would like to redo my whole power and ground wireing...I just basically want to redo the STOCK wireing in addition to the other grounding wires that I will be adding.

Power battery terminal connects using:
4 gauge wire to the starter
~8 gauge wire to the alternator pillar
(But I think I'm wrong, if I remember correctly the stock setup has something that goes between these wires before they hook up to the starter or alternator pillar. I just don't know what it's called.)

Ground/negative battery terminal connects using:
4 gauge wire to the body
~8 gauge wire to the top of the engine block underneith the UIM.
(This should be how the stock wireing setup right?)

In addition I would also like to do the stuff that I found here https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ight=grounding and here

Nope, that goes to the engine bay fuse box.

Actually, if the 87 wiring diagram is right, the wire from the alternator (B), splits off. One part going to the 80a fuse and the other to the ignition switch.

Now about the ground. I could be wrong, but the negative wire from the battery goes to a bolt on the bellhousing but there is also a branch of it that attaches just below the left strut tower. So that should give you a good connection b/t the batt neg/chassis/engine. All three tied together.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that it's a auto 86 base model....I think you're right about the ground wiring. I found the bolt on the driver side pillar. But would you happen to know which area of the bellhousing the wire/bolt is attached to?b

thanks again for the help

The word Pillar is confusing me. What is a pillar??????????????????????????????

In the 87fsm, there is a picture of all the grounds on a RX-7. It's in the electrical section.

One of the most important grounds is the ground for the ECU. That ground runs from the ECU ......thru the EMISSIONS HARNESS......to the top of the rear rotor housing. It terminates with a ring terminal and has two black wires. IT IS NOT, that puke ground from the wiper area to the engine.

There is a free download of the factory fsm available. Download it to your hard drive.

woops! I should have said strut tower....

I was talking about the grounding wire from the negative battery terminal -> to the driver strut tower -> to the transmission bellhousing.

hope that cleard things up...but I guess the easiest way for me to put this is that YOU ARE RIGHT, I'M WRONG. THANKS seriously thanks!
