Sticking Wastegate Actuator

I have noticed in the last couple days that my boost has crept up quite a bit on low boost (stock basicly) and high boost. I have had zero boost creep up until this point. It also doesn't seem to happen repetitively, sometimes it happens, then sometimes it works fine. I am leaning toward a sticking wastegate actuator. Can anyone confirm these symptoms. Also if that is what it is can I fix it or do I just need to replace it?

Well I have a spare S5 turbo and manifold, so I guess I will swap that on and investigate why my actuator on my S4 setup isn't working. I would love if someone could clarify the symptoms so I don't go doing work that isn't needed.

if you can, post a picture of the wastegate actuator rod. I'll let you know if it's open or closed.

and how much is it creeping?

Thanks, but I know that it is staying closed. It is creeping up from 5.5-6 to 12 yesterday on an uphill pull in 4th, and it would have kept on rising. I have a 33mm ported WG and I haven't had any creep until recently.

check the vacuum lines that go to your wastegate. there should be one going into the front of the turbo (above the TID) and one to your actuator (below the TID). if either of those are cracked, that could be causing your problems....

I will follow up on this thread to give an answer to the problem for future searchers. Ok so here is what it was. The actuator was fine, but the flapper and rotating assembly were sticking open and closed, then partly working most times. I took the actuator rod off, and moved the flapper by hand and it was tough to move at first. With some playing with it I got it to move freely with no problem. I assume it was some carbon build up or something making it hard to move freely in there. No boost creep again now.
