Steering Wheel Sensor

Hey there

I'm having a little bit of trouble with my steering wheel. My car beeps 5 times then pauses and keeps doing it. I read in the FAQ that 5 beeps and a pause means the steering wheel is not aligned correctly, which it was. So I took off my steering wheel and aligned it correctly. It's pretty much perfectly straight but it's still beeps. How do I get it to stop beeping? Is there a trick to aligning the steering wheel perfectly?

Thanks.

you need to align the plastic alignment/quide tabs that stick up, into the holes on the back of the steering wheel.

Hopefully you have not broken the sensor by tightening down the wheel with the alignment/guide tabs not lined up into the holes on the back of the steering wheel

I tried to align it two seperate times. Both time I was very careful to align both those as well. They are still intact in what seems to be perfect condition. I don't think thats the problem. Does it have to be PERFECTLY straight or can it be pretty much as good as human judgement can do?

Btw: I aligned it just on the pavement, not jacked up or lifted.

The sensor tabs are not aligned up... doesn't matter if the wheel is straight or at a 190 degree angle. Move the sensor around until it lines up properlly with the two holes on the back of the steering wheel.

This is a stock Mazda wheel, or aftermarket wheel with a Momo Mazda adapter right?

no it's the stock steering wheel. So are you saying the little plastic sensor might be 3 rotations or anything off if someone twisted is around a bunch of times? Also is it supposed to click into place when it is aligned?

It does not click in place. It fits in place. If it is clicking, the wheel was probably installed incorrectly and tightend down, busting the sensor. It should move and turn smoothly. Again the tabs mate up to the back of the steering wheel.

And sure it could be off if it was turned a bunch of times while the wheel was off.

To aligne it, just line it up with the arrows, then adjust it as needed to fit the back of the wheel.
