Steering Shudder

Hello All,

I have an 88 GXL. Whenever I'm travelling at 50+ mph and I turn the wheel I get a vibration in the steering wheel. If I get my tires checked and rebalanced, the problem goes away for about a month; then it returns and gets progressively worse. Anyone have a clue why it's doing this?

Thanks,

Rev

Check the front wheel bearings. Jack up the car and grab the tire at 12 and 6 o'clock and see how much play there is. You may be able to get away with just tightening the bearings up a little; but that will not last very long. The next step is changing the bearings; and from personal experience, it is not very fun.
