Question Steering Box

OK I have been soaking my engine in ATF and getting ready to put it all back together and have a question. I have power steering right now and was wondering if would be better to take it out and put in a manual one. Is the manual steering quicker? How many ponies will I gain by taking off the power steering?
Thanks!

Well you won't actually gain any HP, but you will give more available flywheel HP to your rear-wheels. Its hard to guess though...maybe 2-3HP...you will notice your car will rev a little quicker. Its better to put a manual steering rack in the place of your power steering, but its not essential. Manual steering racks have a larger lock-to-lock ratio, so its a little easier to turn than power steering thats been removed. If you do leave in the power-steering rack(like me and tons of others on this board) then just make sure to connect the lines that were going into your P/S together. I plan on putting in a manual steering rack whenever I get some money, and find a manual rack at a junkyard or something.

Thank you very much! I have another car with manual steering on it and wanted to make sure it was a good thing to change it.

It'd also be a good thing to ship that manual steering rack to me, free of charge...

Cool

Sure, I can send it to you free, but the shipping will cost you $150.00.
