Hey guys heres the deal: first of i have an '88 with a fresh S4 TII swap. the car will start fine but wont hold an idle. when i step on the accelerator it works fine. im starting to wonder if i need to adjust my throttle cable a hair tighter so it will hold the idle. let me know.

Start and die problems are often the result of a bed vacuum leak. That's what happened to me. The gasket between the UIM and LIM was leaking air. Once I replaced that my problem went away.
So make sure you have no vacuum leaks.

Well the guy i bought the engine from removed all of the emissons on the engine so i have no BAC Valve. The thing is the car idled fine earlier in the day yesterday i ran it for 15 min with no jump in the idle or anything. after i took it out for a drive the car was stuttering in gears and then eventually shut off and wouldnt stay running. i did find that my intercooler was grounding out on my alternator wiring (i am using an S4 N/A alternator) i fixed that problem so now it starts and will stay running if i keep my foot on the gas (wouldnt do that before). im gonna go check for a vacuum leak and possibly adjust my throttle cable and see where that gets me.
Well, if it's not a vacuum leak.... The lack of a BAC really sucks on a turbo. Like I said before, you'll have to adjust the primary throttle set screw if you're looking to increase idle speed. Don't over tighten the throttle cable, or you'll just make it bind up.
