starting question

I have a 86 NA, and its being wierd. When i try to start it, the car doesnt crank. All I hear is a click. So far ive:

I took off my starter and had it tested, and it turned out to be good.

I also had my battery tested today and got 12.5 v.

I did the alternator test thing, where you start the car then take off the positive terminal and if the car stays on then the alternator is still good.

Now im stumped, I know the car runs because i can bump start it, but i cant figure out why it wont start normally. So far my guess is a wire is frayed or something, Can anyone give me a hint to where i can start my search?

i had this problem until i mounted my patery in the rear. i found if you dont have a good enough ground (even when you think its good) you lose alot fo voltage to the starter and it just clicks and sticks or just grinds or just does nothing. make sure the negative terminal is as tight as you cna get it also ptu some dialectric on there and clean up both terminals

The battery terminal connections probably don't work like they should. I had this problem and it was my battery terminals.

Talking

This probably sounds really stupid but, are you fully depressing the clutch when you go to start the car? *Assuming you have a 5spd*
