TN Starting probs

Grrrr I having problems again. When I first got the car it was having starting problems. So I messed with the TPS and thought I fixed it, But last week it started doing the same thing over again. Then like 3 days ago it was freezing outside and it started first crank. Now a nice day outside and it wont start. I did the fuse trick and still wont start. Tried until the battery went dead. Any ideas on what this could be. I was thinking maybe it was the fuel pump. I know on some car you can listen for the pump to kick on but I havn't heard it kick on,should I be able to?. I just went to the store and bought some Lucas fuel cleaner I hope that might help it.

Want to help a local guy, but you really need to use the search function.. There are tons of possibilities... If you think it is fuel related check for fuel.....

Yo yo rrtec glad to see some tn people. I did everything in the 2nd gen Faq and still having probs. When it does start it still makes the camming noise you would hear in a V8 drag car, but settles down after a short time.

Uh oh... Umm Have you done a compression test? Starting problems and weird noises can mean a sticking or shot seal...

Yea did that too. Since it was a ok day. I called a friend over and we took every hose off and started taking things off left and right. LOL. Well has we put the engine back togather we had a few parts left. LOL there is a black round thing with 2 black hoses that was in the upper corner of the pasenger side. Well not sure what that is for but then we came across a hose that was conected to the (what i called the choke) and noticed it was blocked so we got another vacume hose and hook it in there and the car is running find now. When I start the car for a few mins it stays at 2k ideal but heh its not doing that damn camming noise again. So it was fun. Any idea on what that black canister is? It was empty but seem to do something with the gas lines.
