Starting Problems

Hi, I have an 88 Turbo II which i can't seem to get started. I have tried the ATF method, the car started for about 3 seconds and just shut off. Also noticed that the bottom 2 plugs were soaked and smelled like gas. The car cranks but just won't turn over. Also the car has been parked for about 8 months. Any help would be greatly appreciated....Thanks..

i am taking a wild guess that it is flooded. disconnect your distiributors and than take out both spark plugs. make sure that you distributor is completely inactive because you dont want sparks and fumes together.

now that you have both spark plugs out let it sit for a few minutesto let any excess gas leak out. put a rag around or under the spark plug holes

now crank the engine a few times to rotate the rotors inside the housing and exposing each face to open air. (spark plugs still disconnected)

let it sit a few minutes after each tap of the starter to allow excess gas to either spiull out or evaporate. after you are satisfied that all the faces must be dry put the spark plugs back in and reconnect the distributors

hopefully it will start but since you had atf in there it will smoke like hell.

this is my best guess for the problem

tell me if it works

Justin
