Starting problem---ECU???
I own a 1987 Turbo II and it just won't start anymore. Since the problem first appeared, it happened more and more often to a point that it's now permanent.
I know it's not flooded. I checked for spark on the trailing plug of the front rotor and it makes only one spark when the engine starts cranking and then nothing. So, I changed the coil and igniter sets, the spark plug wires and I also checked the crank angle sensor-----------still won't start!!!!!!
I'm beginning to suspect that it could be the ECU .
IS THAT POSSIBLE??
I keep for spares a 1986 GXL 2+2. Can I try the ECU from that car on the Turbo??

Trailing plugs do little to nothing for starting the car(Big **** general statement). Don't even bother looking at the trail system. Concentrate on the LEAD.
The latest FAD that I'm on, is taking the cas out of the housing. Placing the LEAD and or the TRAIL sparkplug wires just barely into the coil holes. Leave the other end connected to the sparkplug. Now turn the key to on(not start, to ON). Now go twirl the cas gear in a anticlockwise direction(looking down from the top of the cas towards the gear). Should snap, crackle and pop. That should assure you the coil is good along with the igniter.
Return the cas to its original configuration per the manual. Don't stick it back in a haphazard way.
